When it comes to deciding it is finally time to settle down, a lot of work must go into the process. One must first decide to do it and then actually take the time and effort to make it happen and endure. This is not easy and can easily change direction. Three years ago, I thought that time was happening for me, but, alas, I ended up selling my couch and moving back in with my parents. I then further rejected stability in the name of international travel by quitting my job and later buying a plane ticket to India. In the past year, I have added five visas, at least sixteen stamps and eighteen new pages in my passport. It was an incredible adventure and one that I will save in the back of my mind as I contemplate my future steps in life; however, today I desire a routine and permanency that brings me back closer to my friends and family. This is where Maureen the future feline comes in.
Maureen embodies that stable emotion as one cannot own a cat and expect to jet off without hesitation. Maureen is more than a couch as one cannot sell or get rid of a precious kitty without remorse. Neither does she have a passport and fondness to live on a leash so she can’t join me as much as she might like to/I might want her to. Hence, her needs of a litter box and fresh food are what I aspire to and what I promise to acquire in the near future. I will forever keep my passport close in order to use up my new and patriotic pages, but I imagine the demand for it will occur for a vacation and not an extended escapade. Experiencing new lands and people will always be important to me, but I find it is time to settle down in a place that can offer me happiness (and employment) here in the United States of America.
So then what comes first the chicken or the egg you might ask? What exactly must happen before I am able to bring Maureen (or Momo as I prefer to call her) into my life?
Well, let me tell you, although I am 98% positive of the city in which I would like to settle in (Portland, ME) -- at the end of the day, beggars can’t be choosers. I am willing to relocate any place where I can find a job. This makes me hesitant to sign a lease in the city I want to be in. So, ladies and gentlemen, my plan is to a) find a job and then b) find an apartment. If the opportunity arises, I will make B happen before A; however, they must both occur in order for Maureen to become a reality.
So while I toil away at resumes, cover letters, and entertaining you through this blog, you too can help feed Maureen. You can be inventive in your ways of feeding her (merely purchasing cat theme decorations is a start) or you can alert me when you know of jobs available in the Boston/Massachusetts/Maine area. I am also a fan of hearing about potential apartments (cat friendly of course). As they say, every little bit helps. Don’t hold back (because you know I won’t).
So, in advance, thank you for reading; for your support; and for your help in finding a job. The sooner it happens means the sooner you can come visit Maureen and feed her a treat.
Stephanie if you tell me what jobs you are looking for I will send you lots of job leads in the Boston area, I would like to feed Maureen, literally. Perhaps I could live with you?
